Transport for London (TfL) levies a Congestion Charge of £ 15.00 per day for driving in Central London. It is applicable during these times:

Full details including charges and maps can be found on the TfL Congestion Charging website at www.cclondon.com

Hire vehicles are not exempt from the Congestion Charge and it is your responsibility, including visitors from abroad, and not Hertz to register the vehicle you are driving on a central database and to pay the charge each day you travel within the charging zone.

Cameras read the vehicle number plate as you enter or drive within the charging zone and match it with the database. Once the number plate is matched, showing you have paid the charge, the details are wiped off the computer at the end of each day.

The Congestion Charge can be paid in advance, by midnight on the day of your journey or by midnight of the third charging day after travel. If the charge is paid by midnight of the third charging day after travel, the charge rises to £ 17.50 and you can only pay via the call centre and TfL website. If the charge is not paid by midnight of the third charging day after travel, a Penalty Charge will apply (see TfL website). This penalty will be reduced if you pay within 14 calendar days from the date on the notice, but increased if you do not pay within 28 calendar days.

***Hertz will not accept liability for these charges***

Charges can be paid by credit or debit card on the TfL website or by calling within the UK 0343 222 2222. You can also pay via text message (SMS) or by post.
